New Adult Driver (18+)
Starting from scratch? We'll take you from learner's permit through road test. The DMV recommends 50 hours of supervised practice — our packages cover that.
Teen Driver (16–17)
Under 18 with a Class DJ or MJ permit? NYS law requires certified supervised practice hours. Your parent or guardian must sign form MV-262.
Nervous or Returning Driver
Lack confidence behind the wheel? Need to brush up on skills? Our patient instructors specialize in building comfort in real NYC driving conditions.
All-Inclusive Packages
Every package includes lessons, road test car (automatic), and a road test appointment (7–8 weeks).

Road Test Services
Road test packages include 90-min simulated road test, appointment, and car. Toll/tunnel fees paid by student.
Simulated Road Test Included
Every complete package includes a 90-minute simulated road test with your instructor. You'll practice the exact maneuvers the DMV examiner will test — parallel parking, three-point turns, and more — so there are no surprises on test day.

DMV Requirements & Forms
Everything you need to know about permits, teen requirements, and downloadable forms.
You must be at least 16 years old to apply. If you're under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the consent section of your application.
What to bring to the DMV:
- Proof of identity with at least 6 points (Form MV-44)
- Social Security card
- Completed Form MV-44 application
- Eye test at DMV (or Form MV-619 from eye-care professional)
- Payment for application + license fee
Study the NYS Driver's Manual and pass the written permit test (14 of 20 correct). No appointment required — arrive at least 30 minutes before closing.

If you're under 18 with a Class DJ or MJ permit, NYS law requires certified supervised practice driving hours that must be documented by your parent or guardian.
The DMV recommends a minimum of 50 hours of supervised practice before your road test, with at least 15 hours at night and 10 hours in moderate to heavy traffic.
You must bring completed Form MV-262 (Certification of Supervised Driving) to your road test, signed by your parent, guardian, or driving school instructor.
All new drivers must complete the DMV 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course before scheduling a road test. Grand Prix offers this course 100% online via Zoom with a live instructor for $60.
The MV-278 certificate must be issued before you can apply for your road test.
Upon completion of your lessons, we will schedule your road test appointment. If you pass, the license examiner gives you an interim driver license valid for 90 days. Keep it with your learner permit as proof that you have a driver license.
